The Uganda STEM and Robotics Festival, slated for November 29th 2024 in Kampala, Uganda, is an unprecedented event in the country. This landmark event will engage students aged 4-17 from schools and communities from different parts of the country to explore emerging STEM solutions to pressing problems and showcase their robotics skills and innovations.
STEM is an interdisciplinary learning approach to learning that emphasizes theory and practical application of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The STEM and Robotics Festival organised by The African School of Innovations Science and Technology (ASIST)/Young Engineers Uganda, a pioneering and leading STEM Education organisation in Uganda, is an annual celebration of STEM that unites the top student-led robotics teams around the country to celebrate their accomplishments in creativity, innovation and STEM exploration, as teams compete to be crowned National Robotics Champions.
The experience is designed to motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math while building self-confidence, communication, innovation, critical thinking and problem -solving skills.
The festival will also serve as a qualifying competition with the winning teams earning the opportunity to compete in the VEX Robotics World Championship, presented by the Northrop Grumman Foundation, in Dallas Texas, USA, in April 2025.
To stimulate interest and proficiency in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics among Ugandan young people.
To provide a platform for students to demonstrate their creativity and problem-solving skills and innovative capabilities in robotics
To prepare and qualify the winning teams for participation in the VEX and other Robotics and STEM Championships in the world
To create awareness and engagement by involving schools, parents, policy makers and the community in promoting and celebrating STEM education.
